Hoekstra Transportation is a regional truckload carrier located in St. Anne, Illinois, which is 65 miles south of Chicago. Our operating area is within a 500 mile radius of the Chicago Metro area. Our average length of haul is 325 miles. (We recognized the need for the short to medium haul services in the early stages of our business.) We have been able to grow our business by concentrating our efforts in filling strategic lanes within the Midwest area. We have shippers and receivers in all the major metro areas in the Midwest and move our equipment in the lanes between these cities.
Safety
Hoekstra Transportation is proud of it's stringent hiring process. We hire only the safest drivers in the industry. Our company standards far exceed government or insurance regulations. This is reflected in our DOT Safety Rating which can be viewed on Safestat. We are also very honored to have received awards from the TCA for our safety performance.
New for 2006!We have recently formed the Driver's Advisory Council, a group of regional and local drivers who work with Operations to identify opportunities for improvement and to recognize excellence within our organization.
Equipment
Hoekstra Transportation operates a regional fleet of late model conventional tractors. The average age of our equipment is just under 2 years old. Our fleet consists of Peterbilts and Internationals that are assigned to each individual driver.
Due to our regional coverage and new hours of service requirements, we have built our trailer pool over the past year to nearly 500 trailers. This currently equates to a 5.5:1 trailer/tractor ratio. The majority of our trailers are 53' air ride Great Dane and Wabash trailers. We also operate some specialty equipment in our dedicated fleets including 48 and 45 foot vans, flatbeds, 45' side door vans, and dumps. In addition, we lease storage trailers that can be used at your facility or one of ours.
